As we embrace a new normal, give yourself the gift of an inner and outer cleanse
2020 has been a whirlwind so far. For many of us, we’ve had to adapt to a completely new way of life—working from home, being unable to meet our loved ones, and having to cope with new feelings and emotions that may take a toll on us as we make the responsible choice to stay at home and keep everyone safe.
Take a pause. Step back, breathe, and recharge before we take on the second half of the year with a fresh mind and renewed positivity. Here are some guiding pointers to get you thinking and set you in the right direction for a better second half of 2020.
Are you eating well?
Food plays an important part in the way we feel. To avoid stepping out unnecessarily, we’re guessing that many of you have been ordering in a lot more than usual.
The question is, what have you been ordering?
With food delivery apps advertising fast food bundles, sugary drinks, and delicious bakes, it’s easy to indulge in these temptations to feel better about another Friday night in. Yet, loading up on these will quickly make you feel sluggish, tired and unproductive. While healthy or organic offerings are costlier than a burger-and-fries set, consider investing your money in a well-rounded grocery haul instead—it’s easy to load up on staples like rice, bread, fruit, and veggies while adding in your favourite ice cream or chocolate treat. You’ll look and feel better, plus potentially pick up some nifty cooking skills!
Have you been getting enough sleep?
Working from home and staying in more has caused many of our sleep cycles to be disrupted. It can be easy to keep your eyes glued to your laptop screen hours after you’re supposed to end work—after all, you save almost two hours actually commuting to and from work, right?
A tip from a HubSpot article recommends structuring your day like you would in the office to maintain a proper schedule. Take time each day to create your own to-do list, block out time for both work and play, and ensure you get ample rest. If you’re already back in the office, make it a point to not work overtime and give yourself ample opportunities to engage in your favourite hobbies, before getting at least 6-8 hours of sleep for maximum productivity.
To relax and get ready for a good night’s sleep, make sure you do a full skincare routine complete with moisturiser. Show some care with the Deluxe Hyaluronic Acid Vivifying Face & Eye Night Cream, a classic anti-aging concoction from Avant Skincare that combines classic tried-and-tested ingredients like hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate tired skin, and maris aqua (seawater) and vitamin b3 to retain moisture, balance sebum production, and give you overall smoother skin. We like that the luxurious cream is designed for both your face and problem eye areas—highly cost-efficient with high efficacy results that’ll show up the next morning.
Who have you been talking to?
Social distancing doesn’t mean you need to stop communicating with your loved ones. Instead of relying on just text messages, take some time to revisit a good ole phone call with a close friend that you haven’t seen in a long time. We recommend a quick 15-min phone catchup just before bed—you’ll fall asleep with a nice fuzzy feeling and have sweet dreams!
What does your self-care routine look like?
Many of us put in the effort to look good and dress up because we’re constantly meeting people at work, and also want to look our best when catching up with friends after. While work-from-home life has given our skin a chance to breathe sans makeup, it’s important to not neglect your skin and instead put more effort into nourishing it with the right products and care.
After a morning shower (we highly recommend one to wake you up!), prep your face with a lightweight moisturiser like the Ceramides Soothing & Protective Day Cream. A radical-fighting blend from Avant Skincare, this lightweight moisturiser is the perfect skincare to delicately dab on before settling in your favourite window spot for a day of virtual meetings. The sun may give you the perfect lighting for a video call, but this potent cream will be the savior that helps neutralise the effects of everyday exposure to environmental aggressors while delivering plump and soft skin.
Gentle reminder: the day cream is formulated with SPF 20, but be sure to also use in tandem with proper sunblock for maximum protection!
Tip: Use a mix of both essential skincare items and specialized elixirs with highly concentrated ingredients that provide an additional boost to your skin. The Advanced Bio Radiance Invigorating Concentrate Serum, another great offering from Avant Skincare, is a product that can be used both day and night and contains the purest hyaluronic acid and concentration of matrixyl to firm and protect your skin. The serum also contains caviar extract that helps create an anti-pollution layer and protects against stress and irritants, while essential fatty acids and vitamins help turn back the clock and give you an overall youthful look.
Be kind, patient, and nourish your inner and outer self for a true reset
As you rest well, eat right, and review your skincare, consider adding Avant Skincare to your regime for some much-needed TLC. With nutrient-dense Skincare-to-Share™️ offerings—the cruelty-free brand shares an inclusive and holistic assortment that ties in nicely with our commitment to stay centred, balanced, and give our mind and body the nurturing it deserves.
